If I have a family emergency, what is covered?

If your family member is aged 84 years of age or younger and they are unexpectedly seriously ill, injured or passes away:

  • If you have not yet left for your trip, you have provision to claim for the cancellation or rescheduling of your trip.
  • If you have already left Australia, you have provision to claim for the expenses incurred to return to Australia to be with your family member, and also to resume your trip.

If your family member is aged 84 years of age or younger and they are seriously ill, injured or passes away due to a pre-existing medical condition:

  • If you were not aware of the likelihood of this happening, you can claim a maximum of $2000 in cancellation or trip disruption costs.
  • If you were aware of the likelihood of this happening at the time of policy purchase, you would not have cover if you have to cancel or reschedule your trip.

If your family member is older than 84 years of age:

  • You would not have cover if you have to cancel or reschedule your trip.

Note:

  • You only have this cover if you have the Comprehensive, Standard Saver, Domestic Plus, Snow Sports Plus or Frequent Traveller Saver policy
  • There is no cover if the family member does not reside in Australia or New Zealand.

Cover is subject to the policy terms, conditions, limits and exclusions in the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).
