Do your policies cover for dental?

The following advice is general advice only and has not taken into account your individual objectives, financial situation or needs. Consider the PDS prior to deciding whether this policy is right for you.

Unexpected pain or injury to your teeth during your trip:

  • Unlimited cover for injury to your teeth while overseas due to an accident is provided under the Overseas Emergency Medical and Hospital Expenses benefit.
  • Cover is available under the Emergency Dental benefit for a dentist to treat you for any sudden and acute pain to your sound and natural teeth (see the PDS for the definition of Sound and Natural Teeth). The level of cover for this benefit depends on the type of policy that you choose.

If you require assistance, you can contact the Emergency Assistance Team, as they may be able to provide you with advice on your situation.

You were aware of pain or injury to your teeth prior to your trip departure:

You must complete a medical screening prior to your departure for your trip, as cover is only available under your policy for your medical condition if it is listed as a covered condition on your certificate of insurance.

If we agree to provide you with cover for your medical condition following your medical screening, you will need to pay an additional premium, and your medical condition will be listed a covered condition on your certificate of insurance.

IMPORTANT:

If you do not notify us of any changes to your health or new medical condition, and it is not listed as a covered condition on your certificate of insurance, there is no cover for any claims under the policy arising from the change to your health or new medical condition.

Check out our Medical Conditions page for more information about:

  • What we consider to be an existing medical condition,
  • Medical screening for your existing medical and pregnancy conditions, and
  • Information about the General Exclusions that may apply.

Note:

  • Cover is not provided under our policies for:
    • Planned medical procedures, cosmetic treatments, or other non-emergency medical treatments or for any complications or other claims arising from such procedures or treatments.
    • Damage to dental prostheses, bridges or crowns.
    • Dental treatment involving the use of precious metals.
    • Any costs after 2 weeks of treatment by a dentist unless approved by us.
    • Any costs incurred in Australia.
    • Routine dental check-ups.
  • Your treating dentist:
    • Cannot be you or another person listed as covered in the certificate of insurance, your travelling companion or a close relative with these qualifications, and
    • Must be registered to provide the relevant service in the place where you receive the services acting within the scope of their registration and pursuant to the relevant laws.

As each individual’s circumstances are different, in the event of a claim, our claims team will assess each claim on a case by case basis.

Cover is subject to the policy terms, conditions, limits and exclusions in the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).
