When does my travel insurance start if I buy a policy today?

If you buy a Comprehensive, Standard Saver, Domestic Plus, or Snow Sports Plus policy, your cancellation cover begins the day your policy is issued. All other benefits start on your departure date listed on the policy. 

With a Frequent Traveller Saver policy, cancellation cover for all your trips starts on the policy start date as stated on your certificate of insurance, while the other benefits begin on the departure date of each trip. 

If you choose the Basics policy, benefits only begin on your departure date, and there is no cancellation cover. 

Every claim is reviewed individually on a case-by-case basis and will only be paid if it meets the terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions in your policy. Always check the PDS carefully so you know exactly what’s included before you travel.
