Does travel insurance cover missed international flights due to a cancelled or delayed domestic flight?

If your domestic flight gets cancelled or delayed and you end up missing your international flight or cruise, you may be covered under your Fast Cover policy, it just depends on the level of cover you’ve chosen and the situation.

Here’s how cover may apply:

  • Special Event Transport Expenses: May cover reasonable extra travel costs to get you to an overseas special event on time if your transport is cancelled, delayed, or diverted. Available under Comprehensive, Snow Sports Plus, Domestic Plus, and Frequent Traveller Saver policies.
  • Trip Cancellation Expenses: May cover non-refundable prepaid costs if your trip is cancelled, delayed, or rescheduled and that you have paid in advance and cannot recover in any other way.  Available under Comprehensive, Snow Sports Plus, Domestic Plus, Frequent Traveller Saver, and Standard Saver policies.
  • Trip Disruption Expenses: Can help with reasonable additional accommodation and travel cost if your scheduled or connecting transport is  disrupted after your trip has started due to circumstances outside your control (such as airline delays because of severe weather). Available under Comprehensive, Snow Sports Plus, Domestic Plus, and Frequent Traveller Saver, Standard Saver policies.
  • Travel Delay Expenses: May cover reasonable additional meals and accommodation if your scheduled transport is delayed by more than 6 hours. Available under Comprehensive, Snow Sports Plus, Domestic Plus, and Frequent Traveller Saver policies.

Every claim is reviewed individually on a case-by-case basis and will only be paid if it meets the terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions in your policy. Always check the PDS carefully so you know exactly what’s included before you travel.
