Can siblings and their children be covered together under a Family travel insurance policy?

A Family policy has a specific definition and does not extend to siblings travelling together with their children. Family policies can only cover: 

• You, your spouse (or someone legally recognised in Australia as your de facto partner) and your dependant children; or 
• You, your spouse/partner and your grandchildren; or 
• You, your son or daughter and your grandchildren. 

To be included as a Dependant, children or grandchildren must be aged 20 and under  and not in full-time employment. 

If you are travelling with a sister and her child, each traveller would need to purchase their own separate policy to ensure everyone is covered. 

Every claim is reviewed individually on a case-by-case basis and will only be paid if it meets the terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions in your policy. Always check the PDS carefully so you know exactly what’s included before you travel.
