Am I covered if I leave my luggage with the hotel porter when I check-in and check-out?
Luggage that is left unattended and/or unsupervised by anyone listed on the policy as well as leaving your luggage with a person you did not know prior to commencing your trip and someone who is not named on your certificate of insurance is not covered by the policy. Because of this, if you left your luggage with the hotel porter when you check in or check out and an item of luggage was lost stolen or damaged in the process, this would not be covered by the policy.
You must take care to reasonably protect and secure your luggage and personal effects at all times. You must not leave these unsupervised or in a public place, for example at the restaurant table while you go to the restroom, the beach while you go in the water or in the hotel lobby while you wait to check in.
You may still submit a claim, and the Claims team will then assess your claim on a case-by-case basis, taking into account your particular circumstances and the evidence provided.
Every claim is reviewed individually and will only be paid if it meets the terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions in your policy. Always check the PDS carefully so you know exactly what’s included before you travel.
