Am I covered if an airline, cruise line, bus line or rail authority refuses me boarding?
There is cover for cancellation, rescheduling fees and lost deposits for travel and accommodation arrangements that you have paid in advance and cannot recover in any other way (such as a travel credit) if you are unexpectedly prevented from boarding an airline, bus line, shipping line or rail authority because you have tested positive for COVID-19 or failed a COVID-19 screening procedure administered by the airline, bus line, shipping line or rail authority. This cover is not available on the Basics policy.
There is no cover if your claim arises:
- from you acting unlawfully or breaking any government prohibition, laws or regulation including visa requirements (such as COVID-19 vaccination requirements).
- from the denial of boarding of any airline, shipping line or other carrier due to COVID-19 vaccination requirements.
Please note: There is no cover for any claims directly or indirectly related to COVID-19 for any event that arises within the first 72 hours of purchasing your policy.
There is only cover for COVID-19 related claims if you purchased your policy after the 10th February 2022, unless you purchased the optional COVID-19 Pack and it appears on your Certificate of Insurance. Cover is subject to the policy terms, conditions, limits and exclusions in the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).
