Am I covered if I have to delay or cancel my trip while waiting for COVID-19 test results?

If you are required to delay or cancel your trip while waiting for COVID-19 test results, this is not generally covered under your travel insurance policy. Cover may only apply if you have actually been diagnosed as COVID-19 positive by a medical practitioner following a PCR test, and this directly prevents you from travelling as planned.

Simply waiting for a test result, without a confirmed diagnosis, does not fall within the circumstances covered by your policy. The relevant COVID-19 diagnosis must be made 72 hours or more after policy purchase.

Every claim is reviewed individually on a case-by-case basis and will only be paid if it meets the terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions in your policy. Always check the PDS carefully so you know exactly what’s included before you travel.
