Am I covered if someone I’m travelling with tests positive for COVID-19 and I’m required to quarantine?
Before you depart
Yes. There is cover for you to cancel or rearrange your trip because the person you are travelling with, and who is named on your certificate of insurance has been diagnosed by a medical practitioner as COVID-19 positive following a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test are required to quarantine in your departure location and you are unable to travel.
There would be no cover for any quarantine expenses.
On your trip
There is cover if:
- You are personally directed by a government health authority to isolate or quarantine because you or someone named on your certificate of insurance has been diagnosed by a medical practitioner as COVID-19 positive following a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test.
- You are considered a close contact of your travel companion, and your travel companion is listed on your certificate of insurance and diagnosed by a medical practitioner as COVID-19 positive following a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test.
There is only cover for COVID-19 related claims if you purchased your policy after the 10th February 2022, unless you purchased the optional COVID-19 Pack and it appears on your Certificate of Insurance. Cover is subject to the policy terms, conditions, limits and exclusions in the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).
