Do I need travel insurance to travel during COVID-19?
It's up to you to decide whether you need travel insurance for your trip. You should also check any travel insurance requirements countries, airlines, cruise companies etc may have.
Fast Cover offer travel insurance policies that can provide cover for COVID-19 related events, including cover for your medical expenses if you contract COVID-19 while overseas. Depending on the plan you choose, it can also cover your cancellation costs for your pre-booked accommodation, or your trip disruption expenses if you contract COVID-19.
The usual policy benefits apply for non-COVID-19 related claims, such as cover for cancellation expenses and lost deposits for unexpected illness or injury such as a broken bone from a fall that prevents you from travelling.
Our Emergency Assistance Team of doctors, nurses and case managers are available 24/7 to help you:
- Locate the nearest hospitals and clinics with COVID-19 testing facilities.
- Make appointments with local medical practitioners in a foreign country.
- Find embassies and consulates, and liaise with the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs (DFAT).
- Notify your loved ones and work colleagues if necessary.
There is only cover for COVID-19 related claims if you purchased your policy after the 10th February 2022, unless you purchased the optional COVID-19 Pack and it appears on your Certificate of Insurance.
Cover is subject to the policy terms, conditions, limits and exclusions in the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).
