Is there cover for border closures, lockdowns or travel bans?
No, there is no cover for any travel restrictions (border closure, lockdown, curfew, isolation, quarantine or other restriction of movement) imposed by any government or public authority prior to or during your trip in a relevant area, such as your home, or destination, in response to the spread or a subsequent wave of COVID-19.
This means that if a travel restriction is imposed, there is no cover for trip cancellation or disruption benefits, even if you satisfy the conditions for trip cancellation or disruption such as being diagnosed with COVID-19 or directed personally by a local authority to quarantine because you have been in contact with a person diagnosed COVID-19.
There is only cover for COVID-19 related claims if you purchased your policy after the 10th February 2022, unless you purchased the optional COVID-19 Pack and it appears on your Certificate of Insurance. Cover for COVID-19 is subject to the policy terms, conditions, limits and exclusions in the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).
