What does “There is no cover if you are diagnosed with COVID-19 or develop symptoms of COVID-19 within 72 hours of purchasing your policy” mean?

This means that if you are diagnosed with COVID-19 or begin showing symptoms that later lead to a COVID-19 diagnosis, within the first 72 hours after buying your policy, you will not be able to make a claim for any COVID-19 related expenses.

The 72-hour period acts like a waiting period to prevent people from purchasing a policy when they are already unwell or know they may soon be diagnosed. If your illness begins or is confirmed after the first 72 hours have passed, cover may apply in line with the terms of your policy.

Every claim is reviewed individually on a case-by-case basis and will only be paid if it meets the terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions in your policy. Always check the PDS carefully so you know exactly what’s included before you travel.
