Does COVID-19 cancellation and disruption cover include meal costs?

If you need to quarantine or isolate because you test positive for COVID-19, there is no cover for additional food expenses during your original travel dates.

However, if your trip extends beyond your original return date, you may be able to claim for reasonable additional food, accommodation, and travel costs until you can return home. These are covered up to the policy limits:

  • Comprehensive policy: Up to $5,000*
  • Standard Saver policy: Up to $3,000*
  • Basics: No cover
  • Domestic Plus: $3,500*
  • Frequent Traveller Saver: $5,000*
  • Snow Sports Plus: $5,000*

* An excess applies for each event claimed. Your excess amount is shown on your Certificate of insurance. Cover is subject to the terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions in the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).

Every claim is reviewed individually on a case-by-case basis and will only be paid if it meets the terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions in your policy. Always check the PDS carefully so you know exactly what’s included before you travel.
