If my return home is delayed because I have contracted COVID-19, am I covered for the loss of my income?
No, cover is not available for your loss of income if you contract COVID-19 and your return home is delayed.
The Loss of Income benefit is a specific benefit that provides you with cover if you are disabled due to an injury that you sustain on your overseas trip.
Depending on the policy that you have taken out, cover is available under the Trip Disruption benefit for your rescheduling, meals (beyond your original Return Date), and hotel isolation costs if you have contracted COVID-19 and your return to Australia is delayed as a result.
Note:
- The Loss of Income benefit is not available with the Standard Saver, Basics or Domestic Plus policies.
- Injury means bodily injury caused solely and directly by violent, accidental, visible and external means, which happens at a definite time and place during your period of insurance and does not result from any illness, sickness, disease, or self-harm.
Cover is subject to the policy terms, conditions, limits and exclusions in the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).
