I'm doing backcountry skiing with a professional guide, but not a professional snow sports instructor, am I covered?

No cover is available under our policy if you will be doing backcountry skiing with a professional guide only.

To have cover for backcountry skiing, you must be with a professional snow sports instructor and take out the Snow Sports Plus policy.

This is because we require that they (must) have been trained in all aspects of backcountry and avalanche safety and are familiar with the areas they are guiding and instructing in, and they hold the required insurances and permits to guide groups in backcountry areas on a commercial basis. 

You are free to make a claim, and the Claims team will assess your claim and make a decision based on your particular circumstances.
