Can you get a Japanese visa online?

Australians wishing to travel to Japan for tourism for a short-term period can apply for a visa online and receive an electronic visa (e-Visa) through the Japan eVisa system. This system simplifies the process for eligible passport holders, reducing the need for in-person visits to a consulate general or diplomatic mission. Note that only certain visa types are available online, so check eligibility on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website before applying.
