Can I get trekking travel insurance with helicopter rescue?
For overseas treks, if you have a serious medical or life-threatening emergency, Fast Cover’s trekking travel insurance cover includes the Overseas Emergency Medical Evacuation and Repatriation benefit which is available to provide cover for your reasonable additional accommodation and travel expenses, medical transfer, evacuation or repatriation if you must be transported to the nearest hospital for emergency medical treatment or be brought back to Australia with appropriate medical supervision. Please keep in mind, if your trek is between 3,000 and 6,000 metres you will require the Adventure Pack which is not available with our Basics policies.
In these types of situations, you should contact the Emergency Assistance team to assist you, and they can organise your evacuation if it’s required. The medical transfer, evacuation or repatriation must first be approved by Fast Cover. ^
Helicopter rescue or evacuation is not covered if you’re hiking in Australia.
