How does Fast Cover car rental excess cover work?

Fast Cover can cover rental vehicle insurance excess on eligible policies, either automatically included or available as an optional extra, depending on the policy you choose.

  • Overseas: Rental Vehicle Excess cover isn’t automatically included, but you can choose to add it (and pay an additional premium). If added, it can cover rental vehicle excess up to $8,000 (as shown on your Certificate of Insurance). The optional add-on can be added under our Snow Sports Plus, Frequent Traveller Saver, Comprehensive, and Standard Saver policy.
  • Domestic (Australia): Our Domestic Plus policy includes Rental Vehicle Excess cover up to $5,000.

If this benefit applies to your policy, it may reimburse the excess amount you become liable to pay after an insured event, up to the limit on your Certificate of Insurance, provided you meet all terms in the PDS.

This benefit doesn’t replace the rental company’s insurance and generally only applies to the excess portion.

Every claim is reviewed individually on a case-by-case basis and will only be paid if it meets the terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions in your policy. Always check the PDS carefully so you know exactly what’s included before you travel.
