What does ‘Trip’ mean in travel insurance?
‘Trip’ is generally defined as the period of travel covered by your policy.
For most policies purchased before you leave Australia, your trip begins when you leave your home to go directly to your departure point and ends when you return home. For Domestic Plus policies, you must also be more than 200 kilometres away from your home for the cover to apply.
If you purchased your policy while already overseas, your trip begins from the time the policy is issued and ends when you return to your home. Please note, for policies purchased while you are already overseas, there is a 48 hour no cover period. Please see full terms and conditions listed in the PDS.
