What happens if I die while I am on my holiday?

If you pass away during your trip, your travel insurance may provide benefits such as:

  • A lump sum payment under the Accidental Death benefit, if the conditions in the PDS are satisfied.
  • Cover for the repatriation of your remains to Australia, or funeral expenses overseas, up to the limits in your policy.

The exact benefit will depend on the policy you hold and the circumstances of your death, as outlined in the PDS. Deaths caused by illness or excluded events are usually not covered under the Accidental Death benefit.

Every claim is reviewed individually on a case-by-case basis and will only be paid if it meets the terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions in your policy. Always check the PDS carefully so you know exactly what’s included before you travel.
