Am I covered if I injure myself riding a motorcycle?
Certain cover is available under the Benefits of our policies for Motorcycle riding but you will need to take out the Motorcycle Pack and pay the additional premium.
Riding a moped or scooter:
Cover is available under our policies for you to ride a moped or scooter with an engine size no greater than 50cc provided you:
- Have a current Australian drivers licence (Provisional or higher), and
- Licence valid for the country that you are riding in.
Riding a motorcycle:
If you will be riding a motorcycle, moped or scooter with an engine size greater than 50cc, you must comply with the conditions of your policy, including but not limited to:
- Having a current Australian motorcycle licence (Provisional or higher) valid for the same size of motorcycle, regardless of the local laws, and
- Licence valid for the country that you are riding in.
Passenger on a motorcycle, moped or scooter:
- The person in control of the motorcycle, moped or scooter must hold a current licence (Provisional or higher) for the class of motorcycle, moped or scooter being ridden,
- The person on control of the motorcycle, moped or scooter must be legally allowed to ride in the country that they are riding in, and
- You and the person in control of the motorcycle, moped or scooter must ride responsibly and comply with local laws.
Note:
- You must be aged 74 and under at the date of policy issue to purchase the Motorcycle Pack.
- You must comply with the restrictions of your Provisional or higher Australian Motorcycle licence, regardless of the local laws.
- There is no restriction on the engine size of the motorcycle
- Cover is not available under any benefits for the motorcycle itself, such as damage, loss or theft.
- There is no cover for off road motorcycle riding.
- There is no cover for medical treatment or ambulance transportation in Australia.
- As each individual’s circumstances are different, our claims team will assess each claim on a case by case basis
Cover is subject to the policy terms, conditions, limits and exclusions in the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).
