What is the difference between a delay and a disruption?

For the purposes of our policies:

Delay

A Delay is a temporary situation where you are not able to board your booked transport to get you to where you need to be, due to circumstances outside of your control.

For example: a natural disaster prevents your plane from leaving.

Disruption

A Disruption occurs when you are unable to continue travelling or your trip is shortened due to circumstances outside of your control.

For example: sickness or injury to yourself or family members back home, natural disaster prevents you from travelling further or your passport or travel documents are lost or stolen.
