Do I need travel insurance when travelling to Lady Elliot Island?
Lady Elliot Island is part of Australia and therefore cover is available under our policy for travel to Lady Elliot Island if you choose a domestic policy.
However, if you are cruising to Lady Elliot Island, and are sleeping on the cruise ship for one or more nights, as per our policy wording, you will need to choose cruise cover in Australia.
You should note that non cruise Domestic policies do not provide cover for medical expenses or evacuation, as cover should be available through Medicare and/or your private health insurance.
However, when you choose Cruise cover your policy includes all the benefits of a non-cruise policy and is extended to allow cover for certain medical expenses, transfer and repatriation benefits that you may need if you are injured or become sick and you have to be treated on-board or at an overseas hospital if that happens to be the nearest medical facility.
Depending on which option you choose, our travel insurance policy can provide other Benefits if travelling to Lady Elliot Island, some of which include cancellation Benefits, Travel Delay, Lost or Stolen Luggage and more.
Note:
- Medical facilities are limited on the island and in the event of an emergency, you may need to be evacuated off. You may wish to contact the relevant authorities on the island for more information on what the procedure is should you require medical or hospital treatment.
Cover is subject to the policy terms, conditions, limits and exclusions in the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).
