Am I covered if I have to cancel my trip due to a Terrorist attack?

The cover that you have depends on the date and time that you purchased your policy:
  1. If a terrorist attack occurs or there is a threat of a terrorist attack AFTER you buy your policy AND a 'Reconsider your need to travel' or 'Do not travel' warning has been issued by smartraveller for the destinations you are planning on travelling to, you would have provision to claim for the cancellation costs.
  2. If a terrorist attack occurs or there is a threat of a terrorist attack BEFORE you buy your policy AND a 'Reconsider your need to travel' or 'Do not travel' warning has been issued by smartraveller for the destinations you are planning on travelling to, there is NO cover for any claims related to the terrorist event.

Note:

  • If a 'Reconsider your need to travel' or 'Do not travel' warning has been issued by smartraveller for the destinations you are planning on travelling to, there is NO cover for any claims if you still choose to travel to that destination.
  • Before travelling to any destination, please make sure that you check the smartraveller travel alerts for the areas within the country that you plan to visit. While a country may have an overall travel warning of 'Exercise normal safety precautions' or 'High degree of caution', there may be areas within that country that have a 'Do not travel' or Reconsider your need to travel' alert. If you travel to an area which has a 'Do not travel' or Reconsider your need to travel' alert, there is NO cover for any claims.
