Do I have to pay anything if I make a claim?
If an excess applies to the particular benefit you are claiming under, you will need to pay or bear the excess if you make a claim. This means that any payable excess will need to be deducted from your settlement or you will need to pay the excess amount when you make a claim, therefore reducing the amount of your claim.
For policies purchased BEFORE you have departed Australia, the excess on claims depends on the excess you chose at the time that you purchased your policy. It may also depend on the benefit you make a claim under.
For policies purchased AFTER you have already left Australia (already overseas policies), the excess is $500. It is NOT possible to reduce or remove this excess.
