I’m a business traveller — how does GST affect my claim?

If you are travelling for business and are entitled to claim an input tax credit (ITC) for expenses you’ve claimed on your travel insurance, the amount we pay will be reduced by the value of that input tax credit. This also applies if you would be entitled to an ITC when replacing an item (for example, if luggage was lost or stolen).

For travel within Australia only, if you are entitled to an ITC on your premium, you must tell us the percentage of that credit at the time you first make a claim. If you don’t provide this information, you may have a liability for GST if we pay you under this policy.

This ensures that claims are settled fairly and in line with tax rules that apply to business travellers.
