Is travel insurance compulsory?

Some countries may require travellers to show proof of health insurance or travel insurance with medical cover before they can enter the country.

For example, Australians aged 18-35 who travel to Canada under the International Experience Canada (IEC) program must take out health insurance for the duration of their stay in Canada as one of the key entry requirements of the IEC program and may be refused entry if they do not have cover for the entire time they will be in Canada. Please note that Fast Cover does not determine if your travel insurance policy meets IEC health insurance requirements. As IEC entry requirements may change over time, it is your responsibility to verify whether the medical coverage on your chosen travel insurance policy meets the IEC health insurance requirement. It is recommended to consult the IRCC or Canadian embassy for specific details.
