What does it mean when an item is considered ‘Unsupervised’?
When something is described as unsupervised, it means your belongings have been left somewhere without you watching over them and without anyone whom you either knew prior to commencing your trip or who is named on your Certificate of Insurance keeping an eye on them. This includes situations like leaving your bags at a restaurant table while you duck to the bathroom, leaving your things on the beach while you go for a swim, or leaving items in a hotel lobby while you wait to check in.
If your items are unsupervised or left in a public place, they aren’t considered secure, and losses from those situations are not covered.
Every claim is reviewed individually on a case-by-case basis and will only be paid if it meets the terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions in your policy. Always check the PDS carefully so you know exactly what’s included before you travel.
