Does domestic travel insurance provide any medical cover if I'm travelling in Australia?

Fast Cover’s Domestic Plus travel insurance policy does not provide cover for medical emergencies and medical expenses incurred whilst you are travelling in Australia because medical expenses are covered by Medicare and/or your private health insurance.

In the event of a medical emergency while you are travelling domestically, you should call 000 for assistance as you would normally do if you were at home. You can also seek assistance from the relevant authorities where you are visiting, including the resort, hotel, airline, bus line or train line.

If you are travelling within Australia and you have an existing medical condition, you can compete a medical screening to apply to include cover for your existing medical condition under applicable policy benefits such as trip cancellation cover. This means that travellers who need to cancel their trip due to their existing medical condition that is covered under the policy may be eligible to claim trip cancellation expenses.

As each individual’s circumstances are different, we will assess each claim on a case by case basis and in accordance with your specific circumstances, policy terms and Certificate of Insurance.
