Am I covered for chickenpox under travel insurance?

Whether you’re covered for chickenpox under your travel insurance policy depends on your individual circumstances, when you were diagnosed, and whether it’s considered an-existing medical condition at the time of purchasing your policy.

If you contract chickenpox unexpectedly during your trip and it is not related to an existing condition, you may be eligible for cover under the Overseas Emergency Medical and Trip Disruption Expenses benefits, depending on the policy you’ve chosen.

If you had signs, symptoms, or a diagnosis of chickenpox before buying your policy, you must declare it as an existing medical condition. This requires completing a medical screening during the application process. If we agree to provide cover following your screening, an additional premium may apply, and chickenpox will be listed as a covered condition on your Certificate of Insurance.

Every claim is reviewed individually on a case-by-case basis and will only be paid if it meets the terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions in your policy. Always check the PDS carefully so you know exactly what’s included before you travel.
