Can I claim for a new flight if my airline changes my flight to a time that doesn’t suit me?
If your airline changes your flight to a different time and it no longer suits your plans, this is usually considered a matter between you and the airline. Travel insurance generally doesn’t cover situations where a flight is rescheduled but still operates, even if the new timing is inconvenient for personal reasons that aren’t covered under the policy.
You should first contact your airline or travel agent to discuss your options, which may include rebooking on a different flight, receiving a refund, or being offered a travel credit.
However, there may be limited situations where cover could be considered. For example, if the change to your flight means you will miss a prepaid special event, such as a wedding, concert, or tour, you may be able to claim under Special Event Transport Expenses to help you reach that event, provided all policy terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions are met.
In other cases, cover may apply if your flight is cancelled, delayed, or disrupted due to an insured event such as severe weather, natural disasters, strikes, or other circumstances listed in the PDS.
Every claim is reviewed individually on a case-by-case basis and will only be paid if it meets the terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions in your policy. Always check the PDS carefully so you know exactly what’s included before you travel.
