Does travel insurance cover riding a motorcycle overseas?
Travel insurance with Fast Cover can provide cover for riding a motorcycle overseas, but only if you have purchased the Motorcycle Pack as an optional add-on. Without this pack, there is no cover for riding or being a passenger on a motorcycle.
To be eligible for cover, you must:
- You must be aged 74 and under at the date of policy issue to purchase the Motorcycle Pack.
- If you are rider of a motorcycle of engine capacity of 125cc or less, you must hold both a current Australian Drivers Licence (Provisional or higher) (regardless of the local laws) and a licence valid for the country that you are riding in.
- If you are rider of a motorcycle of engine capacity greater than 125cc, you must hold both a current Australian Motorcycle Licence (Provisional or higher) valid for the same class of motorcycle (regardless of the local laws) and a licence valid for the country that you are riding in.
- • If you are the passenger on a motorcycle the person in control must hold a current licence (Provisional or higher) valid for the same class of motorcycle valid for the country that you are in. Follow the Australian licensing rules that apply to your licence type
- Meet the licensing requirements of the country you are visiting
- Wear a helmet at all times while riding
Cover may not extend to all motorcycle activities, and exclusions apply, particularly for racing or professional use. Always review the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) for full details of what is and isn’t covered under the Motorcycle Pack.
Every claim is reviewed individually on a case-by-case basis and will only be paid if it meets the terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions in your policy. Always check the PDS carefully so you know exactly what’s included before you travel.
