What is the meaning of 'Off-piste' in travel insurance?

Under our PDS Off-Piste means any area away from prepared ski runs that is outside of resort boundaries and is where skiing or snowboarding is allowed.

Generally, off-piste describes any areas within the resort boundaries that are not marked trails. These areas are typically not groomed or maintained, and the terrain can be more challenging, including powder snow, trees, and unmarked obstacles. It is important to note that Off-Piste skiing may involve higher risks.

Under our Snow Sports cover ‘Off-piste skiing or snowboarding’ must be done with a professional snow sport instructor. For more information about how our Snow Sports cover relates to Off-Piste skiing or snowboarding, read our PDS to learn more about what is covered and what is not covered
