I still plan to travel during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Will I have cover?

You can still buy and use travel insurance if you are travelling during the COVID-19 pandemic, but it’s important to understand what is and isn’t covered. Depending on the policy you purchase, you may have cover for:

  • COVID-19 overseas emergency medical and hospital expenses if you are diagnosed with COVID-19 by a medical practitioner following a PCR test while overseas.
  • COVID-19 medical evacuation and repatriation if medically necessary and approved.
  • COVID-19 Trip disruption expenses if you or someone insured on your Certificate of Insurance tests positive to COVID-19 and are required to quarantine overseas.

There is no cover for some situations, such as government-imposed border closures, quarantine requirements that are not linked to a covered diagnosis or being denied boarding due to vaccination requirements.

Every claim is reviewed individually on a case-by-case basis and will only be paid if it meets the terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions in your policy. Always check the PDS carefully so you know exactly what’s included before you travel.
