Do I need a guide if I am hiking above 3,000 metres?

The policy does not specifically require you to have a guide for hiking above 3,000 metres in altitude (only where specialist climbing equipment is not required). However, it is a condition of cover that you take reasonable precautions to protect yourself during your trip.

This includes complying with local mountain regulations including but not limited to following any warnings or warning signs; and complying with the said regulations which may require a guide in certain areas or under specific conditions. Failing to follow such regulations or acting unreasonably may impact your eligibility for a claim.

Every claim is reviewed individually on a case-by-case basis and will only be paid if it meets the terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions in your policy. Always check the PDS carefully so you know exactly what’s included before you travel.
