Do I need to upgrade my travel insurance to a higher region if I’m only stopping over for less than 48 hours?
If your stopover in a destination that is not listed on your policy or not included in the region listed on your policy, is less than 48 hours and you do not leave the airport, you do not need to make changes to the policy. However, if the stopover is within 48 hours but you leave the airport then the country will need to be listed.
This means you would only need to update the destinations or region on your policy if you plan to stay in that higher region for more than 48 hours or if you leave the airport during your stopover.
Every claim is reviewed individually on a case-by-case basis and will only be paid if it meets the terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions in your policy. Always check the PDS carefully so you know exactly what’s included before you travel.
