Can I see a doctor, physiotherapist or chiropractor while I'm on my overseas trip?
Our policies provide cover if you unexpectedly get sick or are injured overseas. If your claim is covered, you can claim for reimbursement of expenses you incur, including medical practitioner consultations, any prescription medication you require and hospitalisation until you get back to Australia.
Cover is also available for up to two weeks if you are unexpectedly injured overseas and then need to see the physiotherapist or chiropractor. You do not need to have a doctor's referral if you need to see a physiotherapist or chiropractor, however, the physiotherapist or chiropractic expenses must have been incurred due to a claimable event and confirmed in writing by a medical practitioner. If you need to see the physiotherapist or chiropractor for longer than two weeks, you must contact the Emergency Assistance team, as this must first be approved by us.
Note:
- You must make every effort to keep your medical or hospital expenses to a minimum.
- You would need to pay for the consultation and prescription medication and put a claim in for the expenses.
- Ensure that you keep all receipts and documentation to support your claim.
