Does the unlimited cancellation benefit apply to the first trip on a Frequent Traveller Saver policy?
The cancellation benefit on a Frequent Traveller Saver policy begins on the start date you choose when you set up your policy. This means it’s up to you whether cover begins straight away or only from the day you leave on your first trip.
Here’s how it works:
If you choose your purchase date as the start date of Trip Cancellation Benefit
Your cancellation cover begins immediately. For example, if you buy your policy four weeks before your trip and select the purchase date as the start date, you’ll have cancellation cover during those four weeks. If something unexpected happens (like an injury) and you can’t travel, you can submit a claim for cancellation costs (subject to policy terms and conditions).
If you choose your departure date as the start date of Trip Cancellation Benefit
Your cancellation cover only begins on the day you leave. Using the same example, if you get injured two weeks before your trip but you selected your departure date as the start date, there would be no cancellation cover in place for that time.
So, cancellation cover does apply to your first trip, but it only starts from the date you’ve nominated on your Certificate of Insurance.
Every claim is reviewed individually on a case-by-case basis and will only be paid if it meets the terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions in your policy. Always check the PDS carefully so you know exactly what’s included before you travel.
