Is the Bali volcano still active?

Both Mt Agung and Mt Batur are active volcanoes in Bali. The volcanic activity in Indonesia is continually monitored, however it is not possible to stop a volcano from erupting!

If you’re planning a trip to Bali, it’s a good idea to stay updated with local news or official alerts from Indonesia’s disaster management agency or from Smarttraveller website.

Travel insurance may provide cover if your trip is affected by an unforeseen natural disaster, such as a volcanic eruption, but cover depends on when you purchased your policy and whether the event was a known event at the time.

Every claim is reviewed individually on a case-by-case basis and will only be paid if it meets the terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions in your policy. Always check the PDS carefully so you know exactly what’s included before you travel.
