Are items left behind in taxis, trains, planes, or hotel rooms covered?

Items that are left behind in taxis, trains, planes, or hotel rooms after check-out are not covered, as they are considered to have been left unsupervised. Travel insurance requires that luggage and personal effects are reasonably protected at all times.

It’s important to always double-check that you have all your belongings with you before leaving transport or accommodation, as unattended items cannot be claimed under the Luggage and Personal Effects benefit.

Every claim is reviewed individually on a case-by-case basis and will only be paid if it meets the terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions in your policy. Always check the PDS carefully so you know exactly what’s included before you travel.
