I bought a phone overseas on a 24-month plan. How much can I claim if I lose the phone after 3 months?
If you lose a phone that you purchased during your trip, you can submit a claim, and the claims team will assess it based on the original purchase price of the phone. Phones bought during your trip are not subject to depreciation, but there is a maximum claim benefit of $1500 less any applicable policy excess.
Any remaining monthly payments on your phone plan aren’t covered, as the cover only applies to the physical device, not the contract.
Every claim is reviewed individually on a case-by-case basis and will only be paid if it meets the terms, conditions, limits and exclusions in your policy. Always check the PDS carefully so you know exactly what’s included before you travel.
