Is my phone covered if I accidentally drop it and it breaks?

A phone that is accidentally damaged, such as being dropped and broken, may be considered under the Luggage and Personal Effects benefit if this cover is included in your policy. The claim will be assessed based on the circumstances, and the amount payable will be whichever is lesser: the cost to repair the phone or the cost to replace it, or original purchase price of the item less depreciation, up to the benefit limit that applies.

If you caused the damage to the phone yourself, you must be able to show that you acted in a responsible way and took reasonable measures to minimise the damage.

To support your claim, you will also need to provide proof of ownership and value, such as receipts or bank statements, along with any repair reports.

Every claim is reviewed individually on a case-by-case basis and will only be paid if it meets the terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions in your policy. Always check the PDS carefully so you know exactly what’s included before you travel.
