Are the luggage benefits on a Family policy pooled together?

Yes. On a Family policy, the luggage and personal effects benefit is shared across everyone listed on the policy. This means the entire family draws from one combined limit rather than receiving separate individual limits. Sub limits for single items still apply. 

The maximum your family can claim for lost, stolen or damaged luggage and personal effects is: 

• 30,000 in total for Comprehensive, Snow Sports Plus and Frequent Traveller Saver policies 

• 15,000 in total for Domestic Plus policies 

• 10,000 in total for Standard Saver policies 

• 4,000 in total for Basics policies where luggage cover has been added 

For example, if you have a Comprehensive Family policy and one traveller submits a claim for 20,000 worth of lost luggage, the remaining travellers can claim up to 10,000 combined for any further eligible luggage losses. 

Every claim is reviewed individually on a case-by-case basis and will only be paid if it meets the terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions in your policy. Always check the PDS carefully so you know exactly what’s included before you travel.
