Am I covered for an item I bought off Facebook marketplace?

Cover is available for any items which you personally own and take with you on your trip, even if you bought the item on Facebook Marketplace.
As with all claims for lost or stolen items, you must provide us with proof of ownership of the item. The proof can be a screenshot of the purchase confirmation, invoice or bank transfer.

Note:

  • You must take care to reasonably protect and secure your luggage and personal effects at all times.
  • Depreciation is applied to all unspecified items
  • If your item is stolen, you must report the theft as soon as practicable, but preferably within 24 hours to the police or an office of the bus line, airline, shipping line or rail authority you were travelling on when the theft occurred. You must prove that you made a report by providing us with a written statement from whomever you reported it to.
  • You are free to make a claim, and the Claims team will assess your claim and make a decision based on your particular circumstances.

If you make a claim, we will fully assess your claim, as everyone's circumstances are different and we will assess each claim on a case by case basis.

Cover is subject to the policy terms, conditions, limits and exclusions in the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).
